Current Community Involvement Opportunities
1.Parker Task Force:
Parker Task Force is a Food Bank that serves the communities of Parker, Franktown and Elizabeth. They provide food, limited financial assistance, and references to other agencies for families in crisis. Volunteer opportunities include helping families shop for food, stocking shelves, interviewing clients, as well as serving at their monthly food drive. 2.Parker Adventist Hospital:
A myriad of opportunities for service are available including hospitality, gift shop, meal delivery, office support, or ministry to waiting patients or families. 100 hours per year are required, and all volunteers must be at least 16 years old. 3.Friends for Youth:
Make a difference in the life of an "at risk" young person (10-18) by becoming a mentor.  Short and long term opportunities are available in group and one-on-one settings.  All that is needed is a caring heart and a few hours each month.  Visit online at www.friendsforyouth.com, or contact Andrew Yamazaki at andrewy@friendsforyouth.com.   

4."Saddle Up!":
A non-profit whose mission is to provide special needs children with “hippotherapy,” or therapy on horseback. They offer free weekly riding for special needs kids. Volunteer opportunities include . 5. Adventist Community Services:
Volunteer opportunities include food bank workers, thrift store workers, medical services professionals, client intake, administration and general maintenance.   Contact Michael Bright at 303-935-7389, ext. 102.  Also visit www.acslift.org

6.Project Cure:
Help send medical supplies around the world to save lives! Appropriate, uncontaminated medical supplies are saved from landfills and sent to developing countries around the world. Volunteers work in 2 hour shifts to sort supplies and load orders to be shipped worldwide. Great for individuals or groups. Must be 15 years old. Contact Patty Gaspar at 303-792-0729 ().

7.Street Beat:
Street Beat is a ministry that takes food, clothing, and the good news to the homeless people in Denver. There are several ways you can help this exciting ministry, such as providing food, clothes, and literature to hand out, helping with transportation, or coming along and meeting and ministering to new people. Every first Saturday of the month, 2:30-5:00. For more info, contact Mike or Shawna Sajdak at 303-805-1340.

8.Adult Literacy Program:
Sponsored by the Douglas County Libraries, volunteers are trained and resourced to help people learn to speak, read and write English through GED prep, ESL courses (English as a Second Language) and U.S. citizenship prep. Imagine being in our great country, yearning to learn English, but not knowing how. There are presently people such as this on a waiting list, so volunteers are needed and greatly appreciated. 9.ER Brown Bags: 

Newday's ER Brown Bags are full of games and toys that help ease a child's fear while waiting in the Parker Adventist Hospital's ER.  Volunteers assemble Brown Bags from a kit which contain everything you need to decorate, fill and deliver a one-month supply of ER Brown Bags (50 bags).  Contact Pastor Lisa at 303-840-4268 or pastorlisa@newdaysda.com

 

10.Art for the Nations:

Art for the Nations is a non-profit, Christian organization with a passion for spreading the love of our Creator God to children around the world by providing art supplies and project training to any team traveling on a mission. Volunteers help paint the art bags and assemble the supplies. This is a great volunteer opportunity for families of all ages. Art for the Nations is located at 324 Clayton Street, Denver, CO 80206.
